| All Detachment members: The election of new Detachment officers for year 2011 is fast approaching. Please start thinking about possible canidates for nominations for the elected offices of Commandant, Senior Vice Commandant, Junior Vice Commandant, and Judge Advocate. Nominations will take place at the October and November membership meetings. Elections will be held at the November meeting. |
Crowley Freedom Day Celebration

The Crowley Freedom Day Celebration was a big success! The Longhorn Detachment participated in the parade, the POW/MIA ceremony, and then sold close to 1,200 pints of Blue Bell® ice cream at the park. Detachment members getting ready for the parade.
The Marine Color Guard takes the lead.
Roland Brucks was the Grand Marshal. Roland is an Iwo Jima Marine veteran and a member of the Longhorn Detachment.
Detachment members tossed candy to the kids along the parade route.
A spectacular jump made by Special Forces veteran and Golden Knights member Dana Bowman. Although Dana is a double amputee his motto is "It's Not the Disability, It's the Ability™, Never Quit."
The POW/MIA Table set up at the Veterans luncheon tent.
Each item on the table has significance and is explained during the POW/MIA ceremony.
